WARM-HUED BIRTHSTONE GEMS

Avant-garde Astrological Talismans with ten gemstones for the ten astrological planets feature a standard selection of multi-colored precious and semiprecious gems.

Sources that inspired our choice of multi-colored precious and semiprecious gems are Gurudas, Gem Elixirs and Vibrational Healing, Vols. I and II; Katrina Raphael, Crystal Enlightenment; Glick and Lorusso, Healing Stoned; Ginny and Michael Katz, Gifts of the Gemstone Guardians; and George Kuntz's, The Lore of Precious Gems.

Astrology's planetary rulership of the signs also helped us assign gems to planets. Emerald and green tourmaline for Venus was self-evident, since emerald is May's birthstone and the corresponding sign Taurus, ruled by Venus. Similarly, associations between January, Capricorn and Saturn, and the gem garnet held up. We chose blue sapphire for Jupiter, ruler of Sagittarius, because that gem is an appropriate symbol for higher mind and intuitive wisdom, keynotes of Sagittarius, inspite of blue sapphire's traditional connection to September and Virgo. We use aquamarine and blue topaz for Mercury, because of their relationship to the throat chakra, speech and practical mind.... Yellow citrine for the Sun; organge citrine for Uranus and moonstone or opal for the Moon.
